Aspire House

Amy Harwood

Multi-Bed Registered Manager

Hi I'm Amy,

I really enjoy spending time with my family and having lots of fun and laughter, especially with my little boy who certainly keeps me active. In my spare time I spend lots of time socialising with friends and accessing many fun activities like going to the cinema, swimming pools and trampoline parks.

I have worked within the care sector for 18 years in variety of different roles and areas. I have vast amounts of experience supporting young people with ASD and EBD and I also have many years experience supporting adults with mental health both within a residential setting and out in the community.

Throughout my 18 years experience, my roles have developed along with my experience which I gained initially from being a support worker supporting very complex young people, I then developed into a senior support worker role. I have experience as a service manager working within an adults residential service for 6 adults with many complex needs. Following this role, I went onto to be a Quality service manager within the community, supporting adults with LD, PD and mental health.

I have acquired qualifications along way to assist me within my role and to develop my knowledge and understanding to ensure the care and support I provide promotes positive outcomes for the young people we support. I have an NVQ Level 3 in supporting children and young adults in a residential setting. I have also completed Level 2 in mental health awareness. In addition to this in January 2023 I completed my NCFE CACHE Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.

I have completed many courses including DSL safeguarding lead, Safeguarding advanced level children's homes, positive behaviour support strategies, Global developmental delay, internet safety awareness, domestic violence awareness, first aid, food hygiene, CCE, CSE, CRE safer recruitment, GDPR. As a service we are dynamic, ensuring we remain positive and focused on our young people and their individual needs, this means that we offer person specific training for each individual ensuring we develop our knowledge and skills.

Aspire House is a warm and welcoming children’s home located in Swinton, South Yorkshire.

It’s close to local community resources, leisure opportunities, and transport links, making it easy for the young person living here to be part of everyday life in the area.

The home is a three-bedroom semi-detached house designed as a solo placement, meaning one young person lives here with the dedicated support of two staff. This makes it a safe, nurturing place where the young person has the full attention of caring adults who are there to support them every day.

Inside, the young person has their own private bedroom which they can decorate and personalise to reflect their tastes, hobbies, and interests, helping them feel at home.

The lounge and dining area are friendly and comfortable, designed for relaxing, chatting, or spending time together.

The kitchen is fully equipped and provides the chance for shared meals and even learning new cooking skills alongside staff. There is a modern bathroom and an additional standalone toilet for convenience.

Staff also have their own bedrooms, so they are always nearby and ready to help whenever needed.

Outside, there is both a shared garden space and a private enclosed rear yard with outdoor storage. These spaces can be used for play, gardening, or simply enjoying fresh air and time outdoors.

The main purpose of Aspire House is to provide a safe, stable, and homely environment where the young person can feel included in the community, try new activities, and develop positive relationships. Staff encourage the young person to take part in local leisure and social opportunities, helping them to build confidence, grow in independence, and feel connected to the world around them.

Aspire House is more than just a place to live – it is a place where the young person can feel settled, cared for, and supported to achieve their goals while being surrounded by adults who truly want the best for them.
