Multi-Bed Registered Manager
Hi I'm Amy,
I really enjoy spending time with my family and having lots of fun and laughter, especially with my little boy who certainly keeps me active. In my spare time I spend lots of time socialising with friends and accessing many fun activities like going to the cinema, swimming pools and trampoline parks.
I have worked within the care sector for 18 years in variety of different roles and areas. I have vast amounts of experience supporting young people with ASD and EBD and I also have many years experience supporting adults with mental health both within a residential setting and out in the community.
Throughout my 18 years experience, my roles have developed along with my experience which I gained initially from being a support worker supporting very complex young people, I then developed into a senior support worker role. I have experience as a service manager working within an adults residential service for 6 adults with many complex needs. Following this role, I went onto to be a Quality service manager within the community, supporting adults with LD, PD and mental health.
I have acquired qualifications along way to assist me within my role and to develop my knowledge and understanding to ensure the care and support I provide promotes positive outcomes for the young people we support. I have an NVQ Level 3 in supporting children and young adults in a residential setting. I have also completed Level 2 in mental health awareness. In addition to this in January 2023 I completed my NCFE CACHE Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
I have completed many courses including DSL safeguarding lead, Safeguarding advanced level children's homes, positive behaviour support strategies, Global developmental delay, internet safety awareness, domestic violence awareness, first aid, food hygiene, CCE, CSE, CRE safer recruitment, GDPR. As a service we are dynamic, ensuring we remain positive and focused on our young people and their individual needs, this means that we offer person specific training for each individual ensuring we develop our knowledge and skills.
At Anchor house we have just achieved Good in all areas following our recent Ofsted inspection. This has been through team work and dedication, I am so proud of this accomplishments and the staff team at Anchor house and look forward to future accomplishments.
Anchor House is a warm and welcoming children’s home located in Wath upon Dearne, near Rotherham.
The house is a cosy three-bedroom terrace designed especially for one young person to live in as a solo placement. This means that the young person always has the full attention of two caring staff members who are there to support them day and night. The young person has their own private bedroom, which can be decorated and personalised to reflect their tastes and interests, making it truly their own space. The home also has a comfortable lounge for relaxing together, a kitchen and dining area where meals can be shared, and both front and back outdoor spaces for play, fresh air, or simply enjoying some quiet time.
The local community offers a wide range of opportunities for fun, learning, and making friends. With nearby parks, leisure facilities, and community resources, the young person is encouraged to take part in activities that match their interests and help them feel included in everyday community life. Staff support them in building confidence, developing skills, and trying out new hobbies.
Anchor House is decorated with warmth and care to feel homely rather than clinical. The lounge is welcoming and friendly, designed for watching films, playing games, or simply spending time together. Staff also have their own bedrooms to ensure they are rested and ready to support the young person whenever needed.
The aim of Anchor House is to give every young person who lives here a safe, nurturing environment where they can feel settled, valued, and part of the wider community. The staff team work closely with the young person to build positive relationships, create routines that feel safe and predictable, and celebrate achievements big and small.
To keep everyone safe, the home is fitted with discreet security alarms on the front and back doors. These are activated at night between 9pm and 10pm and turned off again in the morning. If either door is opened during the night, staff are immediately alerted so they can check that everything is okay.
Above all, Anchor House is a place where a young person can feel at home, develop their independence at their own pace, and be supported by adults who care about their wellbeing and future.
